Alternative metalcore force Imminence shared a poignant 9-minute short film, “Chasing Shadows,” off their upcoming fourth full-length, Heaven in Hiding. on November 26 via Arising Empire. The astonishing “season finale” includes the band’s new singles, “Chasing Shadows” and “Alleviate,” and is an outstanding cinematic project that challenges the entire concept of how a music video can be performed in these modern times.
Director Pavel Trebukhin and the band invested more time and effort than ever, ensuring the viewer experiences a completely new level of artistic storytelling. The video pushes the boundaries of what’s expected. The band traveled to Kiev, Ukraine, for a week of shooting, while the script was written in collaboration with the director and the band.
Guitarist Harald Barrett shares more about the experience:
“I think we’re at the point where we could have released a music video within the regular concept. I guess it would have turned out fine and hopefully people would have enjoyed it — but what about us? Why should we need to repeat ourselves over and over again? I truly believe that outstanding creativity starts beyond the frameworks of how things should be done.”
The band’s new visual masterpiece certainly sets the stage for their upcoming full-length. Heaven in Hiding is out November 26 via Arising Empire, and is now available for pre-order.
