HolyName — Tommy Green (Sleeping Giant) and Joe Holt’s latest project — has shared their debut full-length album. The self-titled release redefines worship, pulling from both tradition and innovation in order to break the mold of “contemporary Christian music.”
The album features a stacked lineup of guests, including Brook Reeves (Impending Doom), Eric Gregson (xDeathstarx), Joe Advent and Danon Saylor (Nothing Left), Ryan Clark (Demon Hunter), and Mike Felker (Convictions).
HolyName joined Facedown Records roster in 2021 and released a slew of singles the same year. The instant response to their their sound and lyricism — largely influenced by the roots of Christianity — exposed a deep hunger for a new approach to faith-based music. According to the band:
“The search into the origin of his faith opened the door for Tommy to fall in love with Orthodoxy, using the songs and the sounds of HolyName to try and keep his faith alive when he felt like it was dying.”
The Holy Orthodox church and the historical origin of Christianity became very important to Tommy personally. He found beauty in a hidden treasure that he didn’t fully understand, and now Orthodox imagery is extremely influential to HolyName’s work.
You can listen to HolyName wherever you stream music, or order the album on CD or vinyl via Facedown Records.
