Metalcore titans HASTE THE DAY added a new chapter to their already epic book with last week’s release of their fifth full-length, Attack of the Wolf King. The album sold 5795 copies in its first week, bowing at #69 on the Billboard Top 200 – the band’s third album to debut in the Billboard Top 100, and second to chart higher than #70.
Early praise for Wolf King has been suitably impressive. Exclaim! called the album “Easily the band’s best work to date.” Alternative Press warned copycat acts to take note, saying, “This is how this shit is done.” Tastemaking site Absolute Punk exclaimed “With Attack of the Wolf King, HASTE THE DAY will silence the doubters.” In addition, numerous critics have hailed the album as one of the best releases of the year in its genre.
In addition, Attack of the Wolf King charted at #3 on the Christian Albums chart and spent its first day on the iTunes charts in the Top 20 between two of the year’s hottest releases, the Glee soundtrack and Ke$ha.
Further rounding out a stellar debut week for the band, the album is enjoying strong initial success at radio, with the record landing at #3 Most Added on the CMJ Loud Rock Charts.
With four prior full-length albums and more than a quarter million records sold, the challenge for HASTE THE DAY was to craft an album that not only fulfilled them creatively, but united a fanbase that was waiting for a definitive statement from the band’s new lineup. Attack of the Wolf King has accomplished both, ushering in a new era for the band while celebrating everything that has come before. Nine years into HASTE THE DAY’s existence, this album has a set a new bar for one of metalcore’s elite acts.
HASTE THE DAY recently wrapped a summer headlining tour in leading up to the release of Attack of the Wolf King, and will follow that up with a stint on the Vans Warped Tour from July 20 to August 15th.
