Relient K lead vocalist, album co-producer and songwriter, Matt Thiessen, has his second studio album on the mainstream Billboard charts or rather can boast having written material for three albums currently in the Top 200 as well as produced the #1 single in the country and on iTunes!!!
Grammy®-nominated Relient K’s new release, Forget and Not Slow Down (#15 debut), is co-produced and written by Thiessen; #8 on Billboard’s Top 200 – Owl City’s Ocean Eyes features the Thiessen produced, #1 Billboard Hot 100 smash hit single “Fireflies” (platinum single), “The Bird and The Worm” (co-wrote, co-produced, vocals), “Tidal Wave” (co-produced, vocals), and “Cave In” (co-wrote, vocals); and, holding at #93 on the Top 200 is Kelly Clarkson’s current platinum release All I Ever Wanted featuring “Long Shot” co-written by Thiessen, Katy Perry and legendary producer Glen Ballard (No Doubt, Dave Matthews Band, Alanis Morissette).
Relient K is Matt Thiessen (vocals, piano), Matt Hoopes (guitar), John Warne (bass), Jon Schneck (guitar) and Ethan Luck (drums). Named after Hoopes’ first car, co-founders Thiessen and Hoopes formed the band in 1997 while in high school in Canton, Ohio. In the decade since their first release they’ve put out five full-length albums three of which have been certified Gold, toured the globe, and racked up several hit singles and a Grammy nomination. Their new indie-influenced modern rock record Forget and Not Slow Down (Mono Vs. Stereo/JIVE Records) was released on October 6th and blends thought provoking lyrics with a distinguished new sound. It’s their second Top 15 debut on the Billboard 200, and is co-produced by Thiessen with longtime producer Mark Townsend.
