Today, HM is proud to premiere Execution Day’s new music video, “Flourish.” The song will be available everywhere tomorrow, February 23.
The alt-tinged metalcore group is one of the Pittsburgh scene’s best-kept secrets. Forging their start in 2016, the band already built a strong track record with three EPs under their belt and monumental singles to boot.
Vocalist Dylan Dively told us more about the band’s newest track:
“’Flourish’ is a somber look into our past, reflecting on the simpler ‘good ol’ days’ of our youth and the struggles and hardships life gives us as we mature and age. As is with most of our songs, the message of Flourish is ultimately an uplifting one. Highlighted in the bridge, the closing line, ‘I won’t turn to gray,’ is a solemn promise to our past, present, and future selves to be the best version of ourselves and to always get back up when we fall.”
Dively, along with bandmates Alec Coslow, Matthew Bidoli, and John Halstead, remained steadfast through the pandemic, continuing to create/release tunes without haste. As 2023 kicks off, Execution Day is excited to join Theoria Records and collaborate with some bigger names in the scene like Andrew Wade (ADTR, Neck Deep, Wage War) and Justin deBlieck (Ice Nine Kills).
The organic traction the band has gained, combined with recognition and support from acts who have come before them, makes for a fruitful future, no doubt. With lyrics you’ll be echoing and riffs reminiscent of the kings of the scene, Execution Day exemplifies the best bits of modern metalcore in every song.
