“I FORGIVE YOU”
BOWS AS ONE-HOUR SPECIAL ABOUT
THE POWER OF FORGIVENESS
From Oscar® and Emmy® Award-Winning Producer Arnold Shapiro
and Bayonne Entertainment’s Rob Lee
Premiering on GMC TV in November
GMC TV, America’s favorite channel for uplifting family entertainment, announced today that the first original GMC World Premiere Documentary Reality Special “I Forgive You” will bow on the network in November. “I Forgive You” is part of GMC’s first-ever original reality series development slate from some of the television industry’s leading producers.
“I Forgive You” is an emotional and uplifting one-hour documentary series that provides people the opportunity to forgive someone who has hurt them or a loved one physically or emotionally. Each episode will present four unique stories that profile individuals before, during and after an act of forgiveness. Each story will be unique and feature both the “forgiver” and the “receiver” of the forgiveness.
“I Forgive You” is produced by Arnold Shapiro Productions (Arnold Shapiro, executive producer) and Bayonne Entertainment (Rob Lee, executive producer).
The goal of the series is to facilitate healing and overcome hatred, anger and revenge. Topics featured on “I Forgive You” might include criminal or violent acts, estranged family members, including, parents, children and siblings; love, marriage or business relationships that ended with hatred or bitterness and stories where a perpetrator may want to offer an apology to his or her victim with the hope of being forgiven. Educator and therapist Angie Richey who has experience in mediating and healing, will mediate the forgiveness sessions to keep the process focused, safe and positive.
“’I Forgive You’ is the type of series that can literally change peoples’ lives,” Shapiro said. “It will show the uplifting power of forgiveness, told through compelling real-life stories that depict the process of emotional healing.”
Brad Siegel, GMC’s vice chairman, said, ‘I Forgive You’ is a compelling series about the power of forgiveness. I don’t know of anywhere on television where you get to see the raw, gripping emotions that stem from the act of forgiveness. We are extremely proud to have award-winning producer Arnold Shapiro at the helm of this special which will offer a welcome and much needed alternative to the often sensationalistic, exploitive and negative reality genre. It certainly delivers on GMC’s brand promise of Uplifting Entertainment by focusing on good people doing good things.”
The GMC World Premiere Special will include four different stories:
Mary and Oshea
Mary finds the faith to forgive Oshea, who killed her son.
Jeffrey and Jerry and Sandra
Jerry and Sandra want to forgive their son Jeffrey, whose Ponzi scheme cost them their retirement savings and standing in the community
Lynda and Her High School Bullies
Lynda returns to face her high school tormentors 25 years later
Ben and Fallon
Ben wants to forgive his wife Fallon for her infidelity
