The time has come for So What?! Music Festival’s yearly takeover in Fort Worth, TX. Since it began, this festival is one of the most anticipated events in the area, and this year, the bands loaded into Panther Island Pavilion to give fans and our beloved city the show of the year.
With something for everyone, the lineup boasted acts from Boys Like Girls to The Devil Wears Prada, From Underøath to Skillet, from P.O.D. to everything in between.
Saturday was a perfect day for a show—not too hot and perfect weather. Mayday Parade and Boys like Girls were on the top of my list, personally, but every band came ready to blow fans away, knowing just how to work the crowds to get them more and more pumped.
Day 2 was a hot one, but the heat it didn’t stop the crowd from pouring in, flooding the festival grounds, and rocking out at full volume. The beauty of the rock and metal scene is the communal celebration and collective awareness. If the scene has taught us anything, it’s that everyone looks out for each other, and on this day, that meant making sure no one passed out from the heat so that together, we could bring even more energy than the day before.
A storm hit midday and the show had to be postponed until it was safe, but the event staff’s communication was top notch. We scoured their social channels and were able to re-enter seamlessly once the storm passed, keeping spirits high and bands moving through the stage.
Skillet was the final headliner at Spikes Pit, and as always, they put on an unmatched, electrifying show. Their years of experience prove every time that they know how to get a crowd involved in their music.
Without fail, So What?! consistently brings fans an unforgettable weekend, and this year’s event was no exception. I know I’m not the only one to claim this as my favorite music festival of the year. How could it not be when you’re surrounded by people from different walks of life coming together to celebrate the universal power of music?
