Red Hits #1
Following the high-impact release of RED’s third studio album UNTIL WE HAVE FACES (2/1) — the nation’s highest debut its first week out and No. 2 on the Billboard Top 200 Chart — the twice GRAMMY-nominated rock outfit RED claims the No. 1 position on Billboard’s Christian CHR radio chart this week with its single, “Faceless.” The multi-format No. 1 song, “Faceless” also topped Billboard’s Christian Rock radio chart and it received millions of impressions when the band performed the track live during its street week, on TBS’s CONAN (2/8). This chart-topper is REDs first No. 1 on the Billboard Christian CHR radio chart, bringing the band’s career No. 1 single totals to an impressive 11 hits, 10 of those being consecutive. RED can still be seen in various cities as part of the Winter Jam tour until April 3.

Aaron Gillespie Debuts New Music Vid
Aaron Gillespie is launching his debut single’s music video, “We Were Made For You,” produced by Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and Samaritan’s Purse, today exclusively at GodTube.com. Last month musician Aaron Gillespie traveled to Haiti with Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and Samaritan’s Purse to see first-hand the work of the organizations, as well as to tape a documentary that will debut this summer. Gillespie hopes that this music video and the upcoming documentary will bring back an awareness to Haiti since the 2010 earthquake as well as the work of BGEA and Samaritan’s Purse. “God’s heart is humanity, and you really find it in Haiti. We are so convinced that we have it all figured out here, with our prosperity and all of our stuff, but we don’t. Gods heart is waiting, go find it,” shares Aaron Gillespie upon returning from his trip. The Billy Graham Rapid Response Team and Samaritan’s Purse deployed within 24 hours of the tragic earthquake and has maintained a strong presence in the country since. The two groups are meeting the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of the families that have been affected by the earthquake. Samaritan’s Purse has provided shelter for more than 10,000 families and over 50,000 Haitians. Gillespie and his wife, Jamie, visited various areas and worked with these organizations to learn more about the country and the current situation. Areas that Gillespie visited include the small villages of Titanyen and Simonette, Jesus’ Name orphanage as well as the Samaritan’s Purse Cite Soleil Cholera Treatment Center. While visiting the Jesus’ Name orphanage, the director Jean Louis Esaie and the children personally touched Gillespie and his wife. While they were visiting, they saw the urgent need for a new latrine at the orphanage. The funds raised will go to this and other immediate needs at Jesus’ Name. A portion of the music video includes Aaron playing with the kids from Jesus’ Name. Also launching today is a micro-site, which includes a trailer for the documentary, exclusive photos from Aaron’s visit to Haiti, plus links to how you can join Aaron in helping the people of Haiti.
Jars Of Clay To Launch The Shelter Tour
Three-time GRAMMY® Award-winning band Jars of Clay will take the community-minded theme behind its latest album, Jars of Clay Presents The Shelter, on the road this spring with the launch of The Shelter Tour. Featuring award-winning songwriter/worship leader Matt Maher and special guests Derek Webb and Audrey Assad, the tour will kick off March 30, in Greensburg, Pa., and travel through nearly 20 cities before wrapping up in Jackson, Miss., on May 7. The Shelter Tour comes on the heels of Jars of Clay’s top billing in the Rock and Worship Road Show, one of the winter’s largest multi-artist tours, and is an opportunity for the band to create a live extension of the collaborative moments offered on their Shelter album. For that critically-acclaimed project, Jars of Clay brought in a collection of both songwriting and vocal guests (including both Maher and Assad), creating a huge collaborative environment never before attempted on any of the band’s previous projects. “We knew in the beginning that we wanted as many voices as possible in the record,” guitarist Matt Odmark explains. “We wanted to make a record about community, and we wanted the recorded process to be community. We wanted it to be an expression of what it was trying to articulate from a concept standpoint.” In that same spirit, The Shelter Tour will offer these musical colleagues and co-creators an opportunity to form a true collaborative evening not to be missed. Multi-platinum-selling Jars of Clay will perform songs from the new release, including the album’s single “Out Of My Hands,” along with many of their numerous hits – “Flood,” “Two Hands,” “Dead Man (Carry Me),” “Worlds Apart,” “Love Song For A Savior,” to name a few – which have become concert favorites.

Burlap To Cashmere Is Back
Nobody gets a second chance in the music industry anymore, right? Enter Burlap To Cashmere. This band has such an amazing story and beautifully classic sound, nothing can hold them back. You may remember these New Yorkers from the late ’90s – they toured with huge acts playing a blend of folk, Greek, and flamenco that literally blew audiences away. They even performed for an audience of 3 million that included the Pope. After a 10-year hiatus, they’re back with a brand-new, stripped-down sound that’s true to the artists they were inspired by: Simon & Garfunkel, Bob Dylan, Van Morrison. Definitely fitting for fans of Avett Brothers and Mumford & Sons, you don’t hear music this gorgeous and pure every day, which is exactly why Jive decided to give them another shot. Burlap To Cashmere’s story is truly unique: They split in 2001 after years of nonstop touring, and a horrific accident that nearly claimed the life of guitarist John Philippidis helped bring them back together. They’re expert musicians who aren’t afraid to do some honest soul-searching, and their self titled album is going to really shock you. You have not heard folk-rock like this in decades.

Moving Mountains Pre-orders Begin
The Merchdirect.com Official Moving Mountains pre-sale is underway for WAVES, the forthcoming album by MOVING MOUNTAINS which is due out May 10 on Triple Crown Records. Like their previous works, PNEUMA and FOREWORD before it, the album was recorded and produced by singer/guitarist Gregory Dunn at the band’s home studio in Westchester, NY. It was mixed by Matt Goldman (Underoath, Copeland, Anberlin), mastered by longtime MOVING MOUNTAINS collaborator Mike Kalajian and features an appearance by Kenny Bridges from Moneen on the song “The Cascade.” “When the band first started, a very close friend of mine died,” he continues. “That was the motivation to for all the lyrics on PNEUMAPNEUMA, FOREWORD and now this new album have all been about that…being young and having people around you die, which when you’re young it’s a very strange thing. A lot of it is also my struggle with understanding faith and existence…and just about questioning those ideas–and most importantly–how to overcome that to appreciate what you have,” continues Dunn. (2008 – Deep Elm Records). They’re very figurative and overly metaphorical, because I was embarrassed to talk about it at that time. With this new album, I said to myself that it’s the last time that I’m going to write about it, so I’m going to be really blunt, honest and straightforward about the subject. Tim Karan at Alternative Press magazine recently took to Twitter to post his thoughts about WAVES: “I was THIS close to giving up on music and instead focusing on learning Portuguese. Then I heard the new @MovMou album. I’m back in.” The band–Gregory Dunn (guitar/vocals), Mitchell Lee (bass), Frank Graniero (guitar/vocals), Nicholas Pizzolato (drums)—performed three shows at SXSW last week, where they played to capacity crowds and won new fans over at every stop. Next up for MOVING MOUNTAINS is an appearance at the Warped Tour Kick Off Party along with The Wonder Years, MC Lars, and Lionize on Friday, March 25 at House of Vans in Brooklyn, NY. Wristbands for the free event are available at five Vans stores in NY and NJ.
