Today, Minneapolis-based post-hardcore band Careful Gaze returns with their latest LP, IT DOES NOT SLEEP. The band’s third LP is a collection of love songs. It is a monolithic wall of emotion, a tribute to the pain and comfort of human connection. Over the 4 years since WRATH LIKE FLOWERS UPON MY BROW, Careful Gaze crafted and re-crafted a body of work that represented the events of those years, until it was correct. IDNS hopes to be a fresh and impactful release in the heavy music world.
Frontman Gabe Reasoner shares more with HM about the band’s latest release:
“IT DOES NOT SLEEP, for us, encapsulates the human experience of loving and being loved. It explores the relationship between mental health and companionship. It is the feeling of something large looming on the horizon: the abandonment of control.
“We really wanted to make something that lyrically and sonically spans the whole range of emotion that comes with that,” he continues. “This album came out of some of the darkest and most impactful times in our lives, but also beautiful ones, and we wanted to do them justice. Dissonant and chaotic, to fragile and empty.”
The album was recorded by Careful Gaze with assistance from Zack Alvey, produced by Lars Oslund, and mixed and mastered by Forrester Savell. It released October 9 , 2026, and is available everywhere to stream. Physical copies are also available on bandcamp.
