Ashes to Omens

Athens, GA-based metal band Ashes to Omens has released a new lyric video for their track “War Cry” exclusively here on HM. Not long after the band formed in 2017 as a four-piece, vocalist James Branton was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. After undergoing treatment, he was cleared, returning to the band where they added a second guitarist and released a self-titled EP in 2018.

We spoke with Brandon about the song:

“‘War Cry’ is a song about overcoming depression, anxiety, PTSD, and other mental illnesses. It’s a song about being strong in yourself and knowing that no matter what you go through, you’re not alone.”

The band is currently tracking their second album at LedBelly Studios in Dawsonville, GA with engineer Matt Washburn. The album will be produced, mixed, and mastered by Justin Davis of American Music.

A Disparate Vintage

On Tigerwine's latest, 'Nothing is for You,' vocalist and lyricist Trobee departs from the band's last effort as a concept record to write about an array subjects. Notably, Trobee tackles his evolution from rigid belief system to an acceptance and understanding of other ideas: "Through touring and becoming close with those very people I was taught to be afraid of, I realized how untrue it all is."

Payable on Death – P.O.D.

A Voice of Life

Almost 27 years after the band's first studio album, P.O.D.'s message is arguably more important than ever. "I believe (our message) is even more relevant now than it was then. If you really listen to 'Youth of the Nation,' we still have these tragedies going on. There’s a lot of searching still going on out there."
