Tell me about My Devil In Your Eyes. What was the writing and recording process like?

It was very different for us this time around.  As where we were used to taking time with writing and having slim to no pressure, this time we had to write an entire album while on the road which was at times very stressful for us.  In the longrun, it’s just another experience that helps us learn and grow as a band.

Which songs are “working” live? Why?

We’ve had a great response from Human(s)being and Be Longing Always for sure.  Those are heavier songs so kids display a lot of energy with them.

How has working with Rise Records been?

Rise has been awesome, they’ve really helped us start a lot of growth as a band.

What are some lessons you’ve learned as a band in the past few months to a year?

Never ever take what you do for granted and always remember why you do it.  In a music scene that lacks substance and meaning, you always have to make sure youre giving 110%.

What’s more important to you: the killer riff or the catchy chorus? Why?

I would say which ever the listener personally connects to.  In my opinion I think the lyrics, I don’t meet kids with killer riffs or catchy choruses tattood on their bodies because they helped change or save their life.

How important is the visual aspect of your art/music? (album art, tour posters, merch, etc) Why?

Def important.  Your visual elements like merch and posters not only bring capitol to your band (which keeps you doing what you do), they are advertising.  They are a way for kids to connect to your band for themselves, to be a part of what you do.  There’s no better feeling being on the other side of the country and seeing a kid in a mall wearing your tshirt.  It makes you feel like youre a reason, and a purpose.

What have been some of the funnest memories you’ve made this year?

Go watch our tour update videos on youtube, they explain it all!

What are your hopes and plans for the summer looking like?

We are going to be doing Scream It Like You Mean It 2011 this summer with some awesome plans lined up for afterward.

Anything else you’d like to add? (sometimes interviewers ask the same old questions and sometimes you develop a theme or a conviction of something you’d like to communicate each time. Now’s your opportunity to fire off. No subject is off limits. Go for it.)

I guess one point I’d like to touch on real quick would be this:  music has the capacity to change kids lives.  Stop wasting time and money on bands that do this for anything less than waking you up every day and being there for you.  That’s what music is to me, it’s supposed to be real, it’s supposed to take you somewhere you need to go or hate to go.  Start supporting music again, and help change the direction.
