Hundreds of lucky fans came out of the woodwork to see Simple plan on a perfect Friday night in Brighton, Colorado. The outdoor stage was covered in a beautiful sky, chairs and blankets were scattered around the lawn, and there was plenty of room for all the screaming fans to enjoy a night of classic punk rock hits from the 90s.
The show started with The Dangerous Summer from Denver. The local support was alive and well as the crowd warmed up for the headliner, and the band met us with unstoppable energy in return. As the sun set, the mutual excitement set the stage for what was to come.
Around 8:20 p.m., the lights went out and the introduction music began and screams flooded the park. Stepping straight back into their glory days, Simple Plan came out swinging and reminded us of when we were young, free, with everything the world within reach.
Looking around, it was clear the crowd was reliving a teenage dream as if no time had passed at all. The band, just as timeless, lit up the venue with lyrics and riffs we could never forget. As they took full control of the stage, their smiles beamed and proved contagious, from the jumping chorus of “Jump” to throwing beach balls around during “Summer Paradise.” We also heard favorites like, “Astronaut,” “Your love is just a lie,” “I’d do anything,” and “Iconic.”
For those in need of a punk rock revival, Simple plan is custom made for the job.
