In news you thought belonged in the The Onion, the current Pope, Pope Francis, has announced today he’ll be releasing a “pop-rock” album called Wake Up!, a “music album with his words and prayers.” Originally reported by Rolling Stone, the 224th Pontifex of the Catholic Church is streaming his first single, “Wake Up! Go! Go! Forward!”, via SoundCloud. It seems as though the trip the the United States might have been also in part to spread word about this album in a culture where music consumption is rabid.

From Rolling Stone:

“The Vatican-approved LP, a collaboration with Believe Digital, features the Pontiff delivering sacred hymns and excerpts of his most moving speeches in multiple languages paired with uplifting musical accompaniment ranging from pop-rock to Gregorian chant.”

Stream the first single below. Need more proof? You can preorder the album from iTunes right now.
