FEB UPDATE: New Website – Recording Completed – Tour Dates

It has been a busy year already!

Yesterday was my birthday, we’re reviewing the mastering finals before going to manufacturing for the CD and we found out that the baby Saphraine is carrying is a boy!! What a day!

To the Nations
Our daughter Xaundelle is once again serving on the island of Cyprus. Be sure to find her on Facebook and keep up with her blog and all her adventures as she goes to the nations. We are so proud of her!!

New Website
We launched the bigger, better, brighter, bolder Men As Trees Walking dot net site in January.

Have you seen it? No? Take a look:

We’re working on adding a download and testimony section soon. Do you have a testimony involving the band or our ministry you’d like to share? You can email it to

Recording Completed
That’s right; mixing of our full length debut, “1518”, is finally completed!!

We started tracking this album in Nov of 2008. Yes, you read that right, Nov of 2008!
The majority of April – Oct of 2009 were spent on the road and we have been working diligently on it the last 3+ months!

I have never worked on an album spanning 15 months and the preliminary reviews have been more then favorable. We can’t wait to get a copy of it into your hot little hands!!

Our goal is to go to manufacturing by March for an early Spring release. Stay tuned for more on how you can help!

Tour Dates
As you may already know, we have been confirmed for Cornerstone and Ichthus Festivals! We’re pretty excited and hope that more festivals open up for us this year.

In April we will be at GMA Week in Nashville for the 3rd year in a row with our friends The Objective and then off and running right after that with our old friends The Extreme Tour. Be sure to check out the Tour section of the website for dates. Maybe you can help us fill in some gaps! It’s easy and we’re “cheap”!

July will find us back here at home while our daughter Saphraine and her husband Hunter give birth to the newest addition to our community… is it really possible that I’m going to be a grandfather?

Late Summer / Early Fall will find us back on the West Coast (Father willing). This promises to be an exciting year!!!

Sowing the Seeds of Love
Would you like to support your favorite musicianaries?

There are two practical ways in how you can do that:

1. Prayer Support
Partner with us as a prayer intercessor… we can’t go at this alone.

Your prayers and intercession are vital for our physical and spiritual well being. Praying will clear the way ahead and release provision, divine appointments and supernatural encounters!

We have taken drastic measures to answer this call to “Go!” and our mutual foe, our enemy the devil, would like to see nothing more then for us to quit or become weary in well doing and/or go forward with fear – doubt & unbelief. The first and most common place he’s attacking is our finances…

2. Monetary Support
You can imagine the cost associated with a mobile community.

In order for us to effectively answer this call to “Go!”, we have left jobs and businesses in reckless obedience to serve Him as His priests and psalmists. You have heard the countless testimonies of provision (many supplied by you!), and His hand of mercy and grace.

In mid 2008 He told me that He was pouring us out so that He could fill us a-new so that He could pour us out like a drink offering to the nations… Father, draw near…

It has been the most humbling and sobering experience of my life to serve Him in this ministry and to watch you, His people – His assembly, sow into our lives – needs & ministry. Thank you…

If you would be interested in sowing, yet again, you can do so online at
Tax deductible donations are also available through our financial partners, Modern Day

Employed to Serve

Forward Under a Dying Sun

Most of these days, the sun rises and sets on a world that feels like it's dying. Across the pond, where Employed to Serve calls home, they're learning how to support their latest record a year into its release. HM contributor Andrew Voigt recently sat down with Justine Jones to learn more about the band, marrying your bandmates, and their outside shot at touring with Rammstein.

Between the White Noise

My Epic's last full-length album came out in 2013; despite a number of EPs along the way, the band's dedication to their craft, lyrical approach, and unyielding approach to let the music come naturally has made them critical darlings. Now, they're learning to interact and feed a rabid fanbase in between albums and in a new normal.

HM Magazine Turns 35

In 1985, Doug Van Pelt photocopied a letter-sized sheets of paper, bound them together, and handed them out in person on the campus of the University of Texas at Austin. It's all digital now, but, along the way, Van Pelt stirred up quite a few waves, played some seriously heavy music, and made a few friends along the way. Here: A quick look back at the magazine's 35-year history with Van Pelt and new owner, David Stagg.

Comrades 2020

Becoming Comrades

The trio of Comrades – husband and wife Joe and Laura McElroy alongside drummer John Gaskil – is used to living in a van and touring the country. Now, their new normal has provided them with a moment to "be adults" for once. We recently sat down with the McElroys to talk more about the spiritual reality within life, how soon they'll be able to release new music, and how koalas are their new normal.
