Joyful Noise Recordings announces their
2013 Flexi-Disc Series!

DESCRIPTION
The Joyful Noise 2013 Flexi Disc Series features exclusive recordings from 12 of our favorite bands – released monthly on square, single-sided, clear 7″ Flexi Discs. Limited to just 1000 copies solely on Flexi Disc, these songs will not be released digitally or on any other format.  Each release includes full artwork, featuring a unique cover provided by the respective bands.
WTF is a Flexi Disc you ask? Essentially it’s a paper-thin vinyl record. And these particular Flexis are clear, single-sided, 7″ squares. A pretty unusual format, but playable on any standard turntable.
Subscriptions are available on two levels: Standard and Deluxe. $5 / month gets you the Standard Subscription, which includes automatic monthly shipments of each Flexi Disc release. The Deluxe Subscription is available for an additional $30, and includes a hand-numbered, screen-printed wooden box set. The Box Set is custom built specifically to house the 2013 Flexi Discs, and features new artwork by Mackie Osborne.

THE FINE PRINT
Qty Limit: Limit of 3 subscriptions per customer. Don’t try to order more and re-sell them on Ebay for $20 or something. We hate that.
Schedule: Individual releases will be announced each month. We will not release a schedule ahead of time identifying which month is assigned to which band. It’s a surprise bitches.
Payments & Cancelations: $5 plus shipping is automatically charged to your card on the 1st of each month. You may cancel at anytime. No hard feelings. There will be a Waiting List created after the series is sold out, and any canceled subscriptions will be given to the next person in line. If payment doesn’t go through at any point throughout the year you will be notified via email and given 72 hours to correct the situation before your account is cancelled.
Change of Address / Payment Info: Changing your address and payment info is easy, and done right here on the JNR website. So don’t sweat it if you are moving soon, or if your card expires in 2013.
A Statement About Exclusivity: Each flexi disc features an exclusive RECORDING, not necessarily an exclusively-written piece of music. Remixes, live adaptations, and demos are considered exclusive, provided the recording is significantly different than the original release.  So don’t get all bent out of shape if Melvins end up releasing a badass medley of Night Goat and It’s Shoved or something.

HM covers from over the years

HM Magazine Turns 35

In 1985, Doug Van Pelt photocopied a letter-sized sheets of paper, bound them together, and handed them out in person on the campus of the University of Texas at Austin. It's all digital now, but, along the way, Van Pelt stirred up quite a few waves, played some seriously heavy music, and made a few friends along the way. Here: A quick look back at the magazine's 35-year history with Van Pelt and new owner, David Stagg.

My Epic performing their last final show before COVID-19

Between the White Noise

My Epic's last full-length album came out in 2013; despite a number of EPs along the way, the band's dedication to their craft, lyrical approach, and unyielding approach to let the music come naturally has made them critical darlings. Now, they're learning to interact and feed a rabid fanbase in between albums and in a new normal.

Comrades 2020

Becoming Comrades

The trio of Comrades – husband and wife Joe and Laura McElroy alongside drummer John Gaskil – is used to living in a van and touring the country. Now, their new normal has provided them with a moment to "be adults" for once. We recently sat down with the McElroys to talk more about the spiritual reality within life, how soon they'll be able to release new music, and how koalas are their new normal.
