Downtown Denver was crawling with events the night The Manic Tour came through town. However, the buzz in the city didn’t stop heavy music fans from selling out the Summit Music Hall and standing shoulder-to-shoulder while we waited to have our minds blown.
The night’s entertainment featured a blend of heavy rock and metal from Spite, nothing, nowhere, and of course, Wage War. Doors flew open at 6:30 p.m. and people flooded in to claim their spots. “Sold out” took on a whole new meaning in this crowd, making for a fun night of intimately sharing the space, air, and music with other fans.
The mosh pit took no time to get rolling as the supporting acts brought the intensity higher and higher, complete with ample crowd surfers and even a few fights. All signs pointed to a successful metal show. After building up our anticipation, the openers exited the stage and made way for the highlight of the night.
Wage war kicked off their set with familiar favorites, “Relapse,” “Teeth,” and “Gravity.” Fans laid a bed of shouting voices beneath the band — the kind of crowd interaction that’s bursting at the seams, and this was just the beginning. The band kept the rock heavy and the energy up with other hits like “Stitch,” “Death Roll,” and ended the night with an encore including, “Johnny Cash,” and of course, “Manic.” Leaving their fans with ringing ears, there’s no doubt Wage War brought everything they had and left it on the stage.
