On a not-so-quiet Tuesday night near downtown Denver, Colorado, thousands of metal fans gathered outside the Oriental Theater, ready to get lost in the noise of a much-needed show. At 6:30 pm the first band, Tallah, took the stage and absolutely blew the crowd away! With incredible energy and talent, they certainly made sure we were alert and ready for the acts to follow.
Next up was Varials. I noticed quite a few people in the crowd ready to mosh and scream along with the band. The crowd’s enthusiasm only warmed us up more for Miss May I, who always bring such great energy and liveliness to the stage. The crowd proudly sang along to most of their songs, from their new material to the classics that longstanding fans could recognize. Just when we thought it wasn’t possible to get rowdier, Miss May I proved us wrong as the perfect precursors to the tour’s headliner.
And finally, the place had been packed full since Varials, but as All That Remains proudly took the stage, it was made abundantly clear who this crowd was there to see by the sheer volume of cheers and applause. ATR brought the heat, with no moment wasted. Fans were rowdy and completely immersed in the tour’s crown jewel and the band’s 2006 release, The Fall of Ideals. It is such a powerful and strong record, and it certainly still has a strong lifeblood among listeners. One thing was clear that night — there is no stopping these guys.
