Haste The Day Hit Road And Studio
Solid State Records’ Haste the Day has successfully carved their niche market with more than 230,000 album sales statewide, killer touring in 2008-09 and the release of their fourth studio album last fall, “Dreamer.” Now the hardcore band from Indiana is hitting the road with the Napalm & Noise Tour beginning next Thursday, Nov. 20th in Illinois (dates/markets below) with All That Remains, The Devil Wars Prada and Story of the Year. The band also went international this year headlining in South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Columbia, and Panama. Haste the Day also headlined the domestic Scream the Prayer tour this year. In December, the band will go abroad once again to Germany for the Christmas Rock Night festival. The Elms Release New Video
HE ELMS have released the debut video from their fourth album THE GREAT AMERICAN MIDRANGE–issued on THE ELM’s own label TRUST Incorporated in conjunction with Artist 2 Market (A2M) Distribution and Warner Chappell. The rousing lead single “Back To Indiana” premiered last spring on national television (ABC, ESPN and VS. networks) during coverage of the Indianapolis 500 race and has been building steadily at radio. The video was filmed while the band was on tour in New York, Philadelphia, Columbus and Louisville, and then completed in their hometown of Seymour, IN—the same “small town” John Mellencamp sang about. You can view the video for “Back To Indiana” here. Currently on the road, THE ELMS have announced a new leg of headline winter tour dates for this December in support of THE GREAT AMERICAN MIDRANGE. Since first forming in 2002, THE ELMS–who embody the hard-working values that they sing about–have played more than 900 shows sharing stages in the U.S. and Europe with artists as diverse as Band of Horses, Shooter Jennings, Neil Young, the Fratellis and Buddy Guy. THE GREAT AMERICAN MIDRANGE was co-produced by THE ELMS and longtime collaborator Brent Milligan; engineered and mixed by Adam Kasper (Pearl Jam, Foo Fighters, Queens of the Stone Age); and mastered by the legendary Bob Ludwig (Rolling Stones, U2, Pearl Jam, REM, Radiohead). The album saw the band’s best first-week sales ever, exceeding those of all three previous major label releases and debuted at #18 on the Billboard Heatseekers Chart and #1 on the Heatseekers chart for the East North Central region.

Raging Storm Records Want Your Music
Raging Storm Records is proud to present its first ever open submission for their annual industry sampler, the Positive Music Sampler Spring 2010. This year’s industry compilation will be a first for Raging Storm in a few ways. To begin with, this is the first time Raging Storm has seriously invited non-label bands for inclusion on the sampler. Secondly, this will also be the first time Raging Storm is opening up their sampler for more widespread distribution. Not only will every band on the sampler want to promote the sampler (making for free cross-promotion), but Raging Storm will also be shipping copies with every online order placed on their online store*, while supplies last. Digital downloads will be made available via iTunes. Please note there is no participation fee to get on this sampler. However, artists are invited to purchase copies at a wholesale rate of just $3 per disc! All bands not currently working with Raging Storm must use the Sonic Bids submission form. Every submission will receive honest feedback on their music, even if not selected.

Owl City News
Universal Republic Records’ basement launched phenomenon Owl City reclaimed the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart this week after originally hitting the #1 position two weeks ago with the smash hit “Fireflies.” The song continues to break boundaries at radio as it is top 10 at both Top 40 and Hot AC formats along with impressive showings at Alternative, Triple A, and Rhythm Crossover making it one of the most requested songs in the US. “Fireflies” also sold an amazing 200,000 digital singles this week bringing sales totals over a million. Combining an impressive radio story, huge sales, a #1 song, a sold out tour in the U.S as well as sold out shows in Asia this month are all parts in making Owl City the artist development story of 2009. A self-described ‘shy-kid’ who first arrived on the music scene in 2007, Universal Republic Records has successfully translated Young’s hypnotizing songscapes into mainstream captures of everyday life, connecting with radio, digital and video audiences across the U.S. Owl City’s magical mix of lively-digital rhythms and lush melodies first hatched in the basement of his parent’s house is perfectly portrayed in his debut video for “Fireflies,” which depicts the affable singer performing the song in dreamy basement environment. The video is closing in on an incredible 13 million views on YouTube, and surging in X-LARGE rotation on VH-1, and other video and digital platforms. With Ocean Eyes on its way to gold status Owl City just wrapped a highly-praised sold-out U.S. tour – ‘Imagine if Nine Inch Nails traded dark for light…’ raved Livedaily.com about Young’s recent Hollywood show. ‘If such a remarkable transformation took place, it would sound, look, and feel a lot like Owl City.’ People who missed this past U.S. tour can catch Young’s energizing show next year when Owl City hits the road again in January before touring Europe in February and then Australia and New Zealand in March. Hailing from the small Minnesota town of Owatonna, Minnesota, (population 22,000), Young’s songs convey a singular simplicity that has rocked the 24/7 non-stop-chatter of an ultra-competitive music world. Calling his homemade-basement studio ‘the cave,’ other songs on the new album include “Vanilla Twilight,” which is also climbing up the iTunes singles chart and “Cave in,” “Umbrella Beach,” “Dental Care,” among others.

As I Lay Dying Issues Update From The Studio
As I Lay Dying is currently holed up with Adam D. and Daniel Castleman at Lambesis Studios in San Diego, CA. They’re hard at work recording and writing their follow up to 2007’s An Ocean Between Us. The band will be recording and writing throughout the rest of 2009 and vocalist Tim Lambesis has issued the following update via the band’s myspace page: “We’ve released little bits of information here or there in previous news posts and blogs, but there are still questions coming in concerning what we’ve been up to. Below is an unquestionably obvious outline concerning our future plans… 1) We started working on new album. 2) We started recording the new album a few weeks ago with Adam D & Daniel Castleman at the reigns (and JMR for a couple weeks). 3) There are only drums for 8 songs tracked so far. One of them we’re undecided about, but maybe it’ll feel different when the vocals are done. Either way, we need write more than 8 songs (since they aren’t as long as the 8 songs on Master of Puppets). Therefore we’re working on writing MORE new songs as soon as we finish recording what’s been started. 4) The only break in working on the new album will be our short trip to Mexico and Sri Lanka to play two of the best shows of our career. 5) All of us can’t stress enough how grateful we are to be writing music that we love while still receiving a paycheck. This can only be credited to OUR LOYAL FANS! Sometimes bands need to rush out a crappy record so they can start touring again to pay their bills. In our case, we plan to make a record worth listening to (hopefully), and start touring again when we’re done. Thanks for your patience and understanding. We care and we’re working. In fact, I haven’t had a full nights rest since March when the coolest kid ever made me a DAD!” As Tim mentioned, the band will be playing in Mexico City, Mexico and one very special show all the way over in Sri Lanka. Tim Lambesis recently sat down for a video interview with Johnny Orlando Jr’.s Antibiotic Resistant Metal Show. The hilarious clip can be seen here.

I’m OK Part Of Dream Christmas Album
Dream Records announces the release today, of its high energy, yet nostalgic & emotional Dream Christmas record. The project features artists such as Stephen Petree, Coffey Anderson, Press Play, I’m OK You’re OK, Joel Bodker, Sada K, Stephen Wrabel and Tyler Logan performing unique and heart-felt renditions of well-known Christmas songs, like “Silent Night” and “Winter Wonderland,” while artists like Petree deliver stirring songs such as “O Holy Night” in a way never before heard. The sale of Dream Christmas will give the Los Angeles Dream Center the opportunity to give thousands of children Christmas this winter season, as well as providing LA families with necessary food and clothing. In addition, the following events will benefit from the Dream Christmas project, through these amazing outreaches in the L.A. area throughout the 2009 holiday season! THE DREAM CENTER will hold its annual “Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaway” on Sunday, November 22 at 11:00 a.m., giving away 2,000 turkeys to families in need. Last year, the line for turkeys stretched ½ mile down Sunset Blvd. The Armand Hammer Foundation, The Los Angeles Defenders, official team of Los Angeles Lakers and Rodney Jerkins & Darkchild Productions will partner with the DREAM CENTER to host the 15th Annual “Christmas in the City” on December 20 at 9:00 a.m. at USC’s Galen Center. The DREAM CENTER will give away 4,000 bikes, 2,000 scooters, and 6,000 wrapped toys to inner city children in L.A. and will bus in around 2,000 children from their project sites. Dream Records will be giving away the Dream Christmas album to the children at this event, in which five children will be given an extra special “Dream Christmas” package. Last year the families started lining up on the sidewalk 24-hours in advance and slept on the street with their kids just to get a bike. Proceeds from album sales will go directly to the Dream Center, a non-profit organization helping inner cities restore hope for residents. There are 115 Dream Center locations across the country that offer many outreach services to inner city neighborhoods, like Adopt-A-Block and The RE:scue Project. Both of these programs help to clean up inner city streets and help people affected by drugs, violence and human trafficking. The Los Angeles Dream Center alone houses over 750 people, serves 30,000 meals a week, and distributes 1 million pounds of food each month. The release of Dream Christmas coincides closely with the 15th anniversary of the Dream Center. Founded by Pastors Matthew and Tommy Barnett in 1994, the two purchased the former site of the Queen of Angels Hospital, where they now house and feed thousands of people every month.

Currently on the cover of the Detroit’s Metro Times is We Came As Romans – the highly buzzed-about melodic metal sextet from Michigan – who have just released their debut full-length, To Plant A Seed, and charted high upon several Billboard charts. Take It Back!’s Album Is Out Now
Taking inspiration from bands such as Verse, Have Heart, Modern Life Is War, and Kings of Leon, Take It Back!’s sound strikes a chord of candor in this synthetic and often insincere industry, and honesty is what they aim for. “We are tired of watching people around us live and die for nothing” says frontman Nick Thomas. Their lighthearted approach to life on the road and their fun, youth-crew sound belies the band’s willingness to take on a matter very dear to their hearts. “We are motivated by the unfortunate state of the world around us. We want to show people that there is a purpose for this life.” On their follow up release to Can’t Fight Robots Take It Back wear their heart on their sleeve as they chronicle the atrocities of an apathetic society. Check out some of their songs here.

Athlete Set Release Date For New Album
Since bouncing to prominence seven years ago with the spirited, electro-tinged, indie-pop of their Mercury-nominated debut, Vehicles And Animals, Athlete have established themselves among the UK’s finest songsmiths. The southeast Londoners have sold more than a million copies of their three hit albums (the other two being 2005’s Tourist and 2007’s Beyond The Neighbourhood); packed out venues across the world; picked up an Ivor Novello award; and topped both the UK’s album and airplay charts. Athlete is now set to return with their finest work to date, Black Swan, which will be released on February 2nd on Original Signal Recordings in the U.S.
The reaction to Athlete’s new album overseas has been nothing short of overwhelming with NME stating, “Awash with gorgeous melodies, the best thing they’ve ever done.” And Q Magazine raving: “Strong results… from the rueful to the thunderous. A band reborn.” In advance of the release of Black Swan, Athlete released “The Getaway” as a digital only EP on November 3rd. Black Swan is a musical summary of everything Athlete have been through; the good, the bad and the ugly. But although its songs burn with literate emotion, this certainly isn’t a downbeat record. In fact, the album begins with the hurtling FM rush of the glorious track, “Superhuman Touch,” which catapults the album to life with the opening line, “I’m on fire and nothing’s gonna hold me back.” Produced by the esteemed Tom Rothrock (Foo Fighters, Elliot Smith, Elbow, Beck), Black Swan positively glows with snagging melodies, rich musicality and the band’s heartfelt tales. These songs together make Black Swan the strongest album Athlete have ever recorded. “After everything we’ve been through in the last couple of years, it feels like we’re starting again with this record,” says lead singer Joel Pott. “We made it without any pressure and without really having anything to lose. That’s exactly how it felt when we first got together. In a lot

Megadeth To Tour With Slayer
Slayer. Megadeth. Two names synonymous with fierce, crunching power. Two bands whose histories are inevitably intertwined in defining the thrash/metal genre. Individually, their respective prowess and accomplishments are impressive; but together, they’re brutal and unstoppable. Megadeth and Slayer will join forces to co-headline “American Carnage,” the most blistering, the most explosive, and the most eagerly anticipated mega-tour of the winter – and you do not want to miss it. “American Carnage” will kick off on January 18 in Seattle, WA for a 26-date trek across North America that will include the six Canadian dates postponed earlier this month. Tickets for most shows go on sale this Friday, November 20. Ticketmaster is offering a special presale for most shows from Wednesday November 18 at 10am until Thursday November 19 at 10pm. “American Carnage” is the first time that Slayer and Megadeth will have toured the U.S. together since 1991’s epic “Clash of the Titans” tour. To celebrate that and in recognition of the tough economic times that many of their fans are having, Megadeth and Slayer have decided to roll back the price of a chunk of tickets at every U.S. show to the “1991 price” of $10.00. These specially-priced tickets will be limited and when they’re gone, they’re gone. Megadeth has also teamed with iloveallaccess.com to provide an Ultimate Fan Package including premium seats, meet and greets, pre-show parties and more. In addition, Testament – who was also on the “Clash of the Titans” bill, will be Special Guests on the entire tour, marking the first time that all three bands have shared a stage together in more than 18 years, and making this a “must see” metal event. Both Megadeth and Slayer will hit the road supporting new albums: Megadeth’s 2009 album, ENDGAME, while Slayer’s World Painted Blood, the band’s 10th studio venture, hit stores November 3. Testament’s The Formation of Damnation: Special Tour Edition, will be released on February 23, 2010, with special unreleased bonus tracks. Slayer and Megadeth have already massacred territories together outside of the U.S. – first with four explosive dates in June, 2009 across Western Canada – “Canadian Carnage” – marking the first time the bands had shared a stage anywhere in 18 years; and then six co-headlining “Carnage” dates in Australia followed in October. Megadeth. 2009 saw the release of ENDGAME, what has been heralded as Megadeth’s best album in years. It’s the record where it all comes full circle in a career that has not only set standards in hard rock and metal, but defined them. Megadeth’s signature shredding and rousing lyrics are the hallmarks of ENDGAME, with vocalist/guitarist Dave Mustaine once musing and making declarations about the world we live in, having named the album after a government document that should strike fear in the hearts of Americans! But that’s Mustaine and Megadeth, using the vehicle of music to shake things up, to make a point and to rattle your brain, literally, figuratively and sonically. Revolver magazine said of ENDGAME, “One of their best albums.” VH1’s That Metal Show deemed it, “One of the metal albums of the year”, and Popmatters said, “the record positively scorches with an intensity not heard since Rust in Peace.”

The Sacrificed Sign To Roxx
Roxx Records is pleased to announce the recent signing of… The Sacrificed!!! All of your questions will be answered this spring with the release of the Roxx Records debut full length CD “2012”! The Sacrificed, based in Lakeland, Florida have been together since 2005 and already have one independent demo CD entitled “The Da Vinci Hoax” under their belts. The demo has sold well and the band have been playing and getting rave reviews ever since! Now they are set to take the world by storm with the release of their most powerful release yet, “2012”. While reminiscent of bands such as early Queensryche, Sacred Warrior, Haven and Deliverance, we assure you these boys are no copy cats or tribute band. The Sacrificed are not afraid to tell the truth, with brave, inspirational lyrics that illustrate their strong stance for what they believe in. Combine all this with a classic Power Metal sound and “2012” is sure to please. Pre-Orders are going now, and you will want to get in early as the first 100 copies only will come with an exclusive demo disc comprised of the “The Da Vinci Hoax” and demos compiled from the bands pre The Sacrificed days when they were known as Sealed Fate and Sceptre.
