Indie rock outfit Hunter Dumped Us Here has released a new track, “Ornate and Carved,” from the band’s debut album, I Understand. The full-length is scheduled to drop on June 22.

We spoke with vocalist and songwriter Gabe Reasoner about the song:

“‘Ornate and Carved,’ like the other songs off of I Understand, is our musical and lyrical interpretation of a story of overcoming hardship and struggles. This story was told to me by a friend back when I was first planning this album’s release two years ago, so it was one of the earliest conceived concepts related to the album. The song deals with the topic of self-harming and desperately searching for a way to stop, ultimately finding comfort and resolve through personal faith. This story, like the rest of the album, is about survival. Since the song deals with the topic of battling against your addiction, it is one of the more intense songs from the album in terms of sonic content.”

If you dig the sound, you can preorder the album on their Bandcamp page.
