Blind

If you want to listen to something fun and upbeat, this probably isn’t your bag. If you have darker, grungier, more subversive music needs, Weathered’s new 3-song EP, Blind, will likely be your jam.

Though brief, the Minneapolis-based four-piece continues to bring us top-notch Midwest emo flickering with optimism in their latest EP. “A Belly Full of Knives” has a slow and pensive start that makes way for a surprisingly punchy middle. And ending with the lyrics, “I’ll be your crow, I’ll sing in the morning” really drives home this song’s potential as a theme song for some spinoff series for Sons of Anarchy.

It’s also worth noting that the piano version of “Final Form” resonated a little too well with my inner angst as an Elder Millennial. Its vulnerable words somehow made me both long for simpler times of my younger years, while growing impatient about what the future holds.

With a deep listen through Weathered’s latest release, listeners can be confident that Blind builds on the band’s keen grasp of chill alt-rock while sprinkling in a fresh, well-timed grunge vibe.
