1. We leave for tour tomorrow (Friday). This tour include six dates with Lydia and Deas Vail (July 23-July 29), about a week with Death on Two Wheels (August 1-August 8), and tons of great local bands on our various shows in between. Please check our Myspace for every tour date and lots of info. Also, for every ounce of info and pre-sale tickets, visit our Facebook page and find the event for your town, and buy your tickets.

2. We’ve started recording our new EP! But only drums so far. That’s where the exciting part comes in. We will be recording most of the album on this tour (July 23-August 8), starting tomorrow, in various places across the country. From warehouses to tunnels, living rooms to home studios–and everything in between. We’re bringing out our sound engineer and the guy who is engineering the new EP, Will “Barfight” Krienke, to record us, but, to an extent, the ball is in your court. If you have creative ideas for where we should record in your town, email us and let us know. We’ll be streaming our on-tour recording sessions LIVE at USTREAM. The only way you’ll know when a recording session takes place is by following us on Twitter! That’s where we’ll post our recording times (hopefully with enough time to let you plan for it).

3. We will be videoblogging on this tour (July 23-August 8) so you can see what we’re doing on the road. Check our Myspace and Facebook throughout the tour for a couple minutes of new footage every couple of days.

4. We now have a Tumblr account and we’re pumped to start using it. If you aren’t familiar with Tumblr, definitely check it out as it’s one of the coolest social networking sites out there. We’ll be posting updates, videos and other things during tour and would love for you to be part of that.

5. “Rare Triumphs of Love and Fortune” from 20,000 Ghosts is now available for streaming on Myspace and Facebook, so get on over and listen if you haven’t heard that song, or even if you have.

6. We will be doing some giveaways on FanBridge in the coming weeks, so stay on our e-mail list and we’ll make it worth your while!

HM Magazine Turns 35

In 1985, Doug Van Pelt photocopied a letter-sized sheets of paper, bound them together, and handed them out in person on the campus of the University of Texas at Austin. It's all digital now, but, along the way, Van Pelt stirred up quite a few waves, played some seriously heavy music, and made a few friends along the way. Here: A quick look back at the magazine's 35-year history with Van Pelt and new owner, David Stagg.
