Tooth & Nail Records’ sister duo Poema is setting out to help raise money for Exodus Cry, an organization devoted to raising awareness to help end Human Trafficking and Slavery.  These young ladies are donating their personal items from their closet for “A Piece of Poema” charity event in conjunction with October Moon Boutique ( http://www.octobermoonboutique.com). “A Piece of Poema” begins February 1st – on National Freedom Day – running through the entire month.

Poema’s Shealeen and Elle donated 20 items ranging from dresses, tops, skirts, shoes and accessories that they have worn on tour, in photoshoots or in their music videos. Each week five new pieces from their wardrobe will go up for sale online at October Moon Boutique. The most recognizable item being the black vintage dress that Shealeen wore on the cover of their EP “Sing It Now” (photographed above).

In addition to the purchase of the Poema item, each package will receive an autographed photo of Poema.  Fans can also enter a special giveaway on October Moon’s blog ( octobermoonboutique.blogspot.com). The prize pack includes a handmade Poema T-shirt, October Moon Boutique T-shirt, Steve Madden sunglasses and a conductor style cap by Hg.

“Nobody wants to think of slavery as an issue anymore,” shares Shealeen. “I think that maybe we want to believe that it is a thing of the past and not a modern day occurrence. The sad truth is that human trafficking is a worse epidemic than it has ever been. Elle and I chose to support Exodus Cry because we want to be a part of what they are doing. They help people in different cities all over the world experience the freedom we have taken for granted all our lives, and we would love to be involved by supporting them and praying for the different cities and countries that they are reaching!”

About Poema:
Tooth & Nail Records introduced the world to Poema with their debut EP “Sing It Now” in 2010. Two sisters from Albuquerque, NM, Shealeen and Elle, grew up in a close-knit family where music was an integral part of their life. Shealeen has been classically trained in piano for over 11 years, and Elle basically taught herself to play guitar. Poema describes their sound as “happy, acoustic-pop.”  This past summer, Poema toured the entire Vans Warped Tour in the Girlz Garage. The band is currently writing and recording their full-length label debut. For more information on Poema, visit their Facebook ( http://www.facebook.com/poema) or MySpace ( http://www.myspace.com/poemaofficial).  Follow their official Twitter: @poemaofficial, or their individual accounts: @ shealeenlouise, @ ellepuckett.

About Exodus Cry:
Exodus Cry is an international anti-trafficking organization committed to abolishing modern day slavery through prayer and awareness, and assisting the victims of human trafficking and slavery through rescue, rehabilitation, and reintegration into society.  It began as a prayer meeting on February 5th, 2007. Benjamin Nolot had received a burden from God for Human Trafficking. Several hundred intercessors joined the call and together they cried out to God for a breakthrough. The very next day, one of the largest human trafficking busts in history occurred involving 2,400 arrests in 77 countries. This prayer meeting has evolved into a movement of intercessors and abolitionists that is today called Exodus Cry. http://www.exoduscry.com/
