Phinehas (Red Cord Records) and The Paramedic (Bullet Tooth) Announces The Bridge Between Tour

California Christian metal act Phinehas are excited to announce their headlining tour in support of their recently released B-Sides & Rarities EP entitled The Bridge Between. Joining them on The Bridge Between Tour will be Dayton, Ohio’s The Paramedic who’s Bullet Tooth debutSmoke & Mirrors was released back in October. Phinehas’ drummer Lee Humerian commented, “We are so grateful for the response to our new EP. It’s always risky stepping out of the box, so to hear that so many people are enjoying both the b-sides and the acoustic arrangements is a massive blessing. We are pumped to hit the road in support of the album with the dudes in The Paramedic. The more time we get to spend with licensed medical professionals, the better!” With The Paramedic’s guitarist Jake Nolan saying, “We’re so stoked to be touring with Phinehas! The band rules so hard. We can’t wait to hit the west coast and play to a ton of new people!”

The Bridge Between consists of four unplugged/acoustically arranged (three taken from thegodmachine and one being brand new) songs, and three full band tracks that did not make the final cut of the critically-acclaimed 2011 album entitled thegodmachine. The EP came about amidst 25 weeks of touring in the past year. The band had this to say about the release, “We are so excited to share these songs with you as it will give you a clearer window into us as musicians and songwriters. Collectively we enjoy a vast amount of music ranging from Brand New to Born Of Osiris, so hopefully this will show you that ‘range’ in our songwriting, taste, and ability.” The artwork for The Bridge Between was created by the insanely talented Trent Tieso, who also pieced together the haunting artwork of thegodmachine.

Intensity, emotion and raw power are three ways to describe Dayton, OH’s The Paramedic. But to pigeon hole the band with just three words would simply be an injustice to this group. Formed in late 2010, The Paramedic is poised to spearhead the next generation of dynamic metalcore bands, thanks in part to Luciano’s diverse R&B background. The band delivers a unique mix blending the insanity of Asking Alexandria, the electro-sensibilities of Attack Attack, and the soulfulness of Jonny Craig. In early 2012, the bands’ dream finally came together when New Jersey based record label, Bullet Tooth, signed The Paramedic to a deal. Joining other acts such as Affiance and Serianna, the band is sure to reach new audiences that they only ever dreamed about. “It’s been our dream to not only be signed to a label, but also to a label that we know and trust and with Bullet Tooth, we know we are getting just that” said vocalist Mike Luciano.

Comrades 2020

Becoming Comrades

The trio of Comrades – husband and wife Joe and Laura McElroy alongside drummer John Gaskil – is used to living in a van and touring the country. Now, their new normal has provided them with a moment to "be adults" for once. We recently sat down with the McElroys to talk more about the spiritual reality within life, how soon they'll be able to release new music, and how koalas are their new normal.

HM covers from over the years

HM Magazine Turns 35

In 1985, Doug Van Pelt photocopied a letter-sized sheets of paper, bound them together, and handed them out in person on the campus of the University of Texas at Austin. It's all digital now, but, along the way, Van Pelt stirred up quite a few waves, played some seriously heavy music, and made a few friends along the way. Here: A quick look back at the magazine's 35-year history with Van Pelt and new owner, David Stagg.

My Epic performing their last final show before COVID-19

Between the White Noise

My Epic's last full-length album came out in 2013; despite a number of EPs along the way, the band's dedication to their craft, lyrical approach, and unyielding approach to let the music come naturally has made them critical darlings. Now, they're learning to interact and feed a rabid fanbase in between albums and in a new normal.
