On the heels of their recent remix EP, 5G, Australian metalcore giants Northlane have revealed their latest EP, 2D.

The 5-track collection was recorded in Melbourne during lockdown, and features stripped-down versions of fan favorites from the band’s Alien era, including album standouts “Bloodline,” “Rift,” “4D,” and “Sleepless,” as well as their 2020 single, “Enemy Of The Night.” As one of Northlane’s more personal records, songs from Alien translate seamlessly in this long-awaited acoustic project.

Vocalist Marcus Bridge shares more about the reimagined tracks:

“I wanted to strip these songs back to the bare minimum to juxtapose the soundscapes of the album, a 2D version of sorts. A song like ‘Rift’ has a completely different energy in this context and took on new meaning with the recording in the depths of lockdown, now almost feeling like a cry of frustration and despair.”

The 2D EP is out now and can be streamed here. The band is also celebrating the release of both 2D and 5G with a limited run of exclusive 12-inch colored LP offerings, now available for pre-order.
