GMC TV Adds Symbolic Pink Ribbon to Logo During October

ATLANTA—October 3, 2012 – GMC TV, America’s favorite channel for uplifting family entertainment, announced today that it will premiere the GMC World Premiere Series “The Changers,” a new positive, reality series dedicated to making dreams come true on Wednesday, October 17 at 9 p.m. ET exclusively on GMC TV.

“The Changers” premieres as part of GMC TV’s salute to Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  GMC also will add a pink ribbon – the international symbol for breast cancer awareness – to its logo on-air throughout October.

“The Changers” hosted by Beverly Adams, who is also the show’s co-creator and executive producer, and comedian Michael, Jr., bucks the sensationalistic trend of negative reality story-telling by accentuating the positive and helping everyday people.  The special is a hybrid of reality and drama with real situations showcased in a comprehensive story-telling nature.

“The Changers” chronicles the life of a young, ebullient Santa Barbara, Calif. couple named Kurt and Jessica, who met and fell in love when Jessica’s breast cancer was in remission. Shortly after their engagement, they learn her cancer is back at stage four. Despite this terrible news, their wish is to enjoy a dream wedding and honeymoon.  Enter a “Helper,” Scott, who is an attractive, marriage averse, adventure seeking surfer nominated by friends and family to be thrust smack in the middle of the event as an assistant wedding planner. He is hesitant at first but when he learns of Jessica’s illness he agrees to help create a dream wedding for her and Kurt. As the story progresses, a number of high profile charities, including the Dream Foundation, are brought in to donate goods and services to help create not only a dream wedding but a dream honeymoon.  As the special concludes, Jessica and Kurt enjoy a fantasy wedding which enriched their twilight together.  One of the most powerful aspects of the show is not only how the couple’s life is changed, but also how Scott is changed through the process.

“’The Changers’ brings an inspiring new approach to the trend of negative reality story-telling, said Brad Siegel, GMC’s vice chairman.  “This profiles real people facing obstacles and challenges in their lives.  We are excited to share this story with our viewers, particularly with its focus on breast cancer and are proud to add our network’s voice to the powerful chorus of those who are keeping this disease front and center in an effort to find a cure.”

“I want to do whatever I can to make life count every day,” said Beverly Adams. “We were put on this earth to support each other, and we want to inspire, evoke emotion, and to aid and assist. ‘The Changers’ is a series about real people, true lives and stories that need to be shared. There is no manipulation; only honest, real and heart-felt situations that are guaranteed to make an impact.”

“The Changers” is executive produced by Beverly Adams of Beverly Adams Entertainment, Inc. in association with Dave Alan Johnson (“Doc,” “Sue Thomas: F.B. Eye,” “High Incident”) who is executive producer, co-creator and director.

Philanthropy came early to Adams, who embraced the art of giving at the tender age of six when she watched her mother unselfishly donate food to a needy individual. Drawn to television, Adams began her career in the medium as an account executive and producer of TV commercials. She began her philanthropic work by volunteering at local organizations like The Cancer Research Foundation in North Texas, The Irving Symphony Orchestra Association, Big Brothers Big Sisters and American Women in Radio and Television.  In 2007, Beverly launched the Everyday Philanthropy Summit, kicking off a worldwide movement. And one year later came the creation of Beverly Adams Entertainment, Inc. (www.beverlyadamsentertainment.com), the producer of television programming that enlightens and helps others.
