The Los Angeles-based Silent Planet will release The Night God Slept Nov. 10, but the band has released a beautiful new music video for “Native Blood” to get the ball rolling. The band has spent the last year touring the country on their Lastsleep EP before signing with Solid State Records. The band wrote the new album from the perspective of woman protaganists trhoughout history, challenging the male-dominated societal norm. As vocalist Garrett Russell put it:
(W)e see a lot of cultural misogyny in music, certainly in heavy music. Women in heavy music are caught in a binary; they are either written as a ‘good,’ moral, ideal women, or a ‘bad,’ sinful, tempting woman. But almost never written from their own perspective.
