Genre giants AUGUST BURNS RED are gearing up to release one of the most anxiously awaited hard rock albums of 2011 – a colossal effort entitled Leveler – available in stores and online June 21st in both regular and deluxe editions.

Two weeks ago, the band gave anxious fans the first taste of what to expect from Leveler by debuting the lead track, ‘Empire.’ The song was quickly devoured by the band’s fanbase, and has since accumulated more than 210,000 plays across the band’s Facebook page and YouTube channel while being met with high praise.

Today AUGUST BURNS RED gives fans a ‘spicier’ taste of Leveler via standout track ‘Internal Cannon’ – an adventurous song that combines elements of Latin Salsa music into ABR’s signature sound. The result? An inventive romp that finally answers the burning question of ‘What would it be like if Carlos Santana started a metal band?’ While that combination looks disastrous on paper, ‘Internal Cannon’ is a beautifully brutal tour de force, one of the most sprawling, complicated and hook-riddled tracks of the band’s catalog, and certainly one of the most adventurous musical moments of AUGUST BURNS RED‘s career.

The track is debuting exclusively at Crave Online, and can be streamed here:

“This is my favorite song on the album and one of my favorite songs we’ve ever written,” stated guitarist JB Brubaker. “I’ve described ‘Internal Cannon’ as our Latin song. There are a few sections that I think are going to turn some heads and have people saying either ‘Whoa! That was awesome!’ or ‘Whoa! That was weird. I don’t know if I like that.’  For the latter group, I’d like to think it’ll grow on ’em.”
Regardless of first impressions, fans and haters alike should be able to agree on one thing – ‘Internal Cannon’ showcases the growth of a band who continues to redefine a genre rather than tread paths they’ve gone down before.

“Putting out a fourth record is a little scary because we obviously have our sound figured out at this point, but we don’t want to put out a record that just sounds like a redux of our previous albums,” explains guitarist JB Brubaker. “Our tastes are always evolving as musicians and we’ve been motivated to progress as a band and push ABR in different directions, while maintaining the characteristics that made us the band we are in the first place.”

A number of pre-order bundles are available now for Leveler in a variety of packages including the special edition and vinyl packages. Fans can choose bundles which include extras from a pre-order exclusive t-shirt to AUGUST BURNS RED baseball cards.

AUGUST BURNS RED will take to the road as a mainstage act on this summer’s Van’s Warped Tour, which will deliver them to almost every major market in North America to bring Leveler‘s sonic spectacle directly to fans.

For LevelerAUGUST BURNS RED re-teamed with super producer Jason Suecof, the man behind the boards on their 2009 breakout, Constellations, which landed at #24 on the Billboard Top 200 and has sold more than 95,000 copies. The result is an album that pushes the band’s sonic boundaries in every direction, yet emerges as an unquestionably heavier album than its predecessor. It’s a game-changer, for ABR, and for fans of hard rock everywhere.
