Grammy®-nominated metal group AS I LAY DYING has recently announced their fall U.S. tour for North America and Europe.  The group will kick off the tour September 14 in El Paso, TX in support of their latest release THE POWERLESS RISE (Metal Blade) which debuted this spring on the Billboard Top 200 chart at #10. The tour—with support acts All That Remains, Unearth, and Carnifex–will take AS I LAY DYING down south and throughout the northeast, before making its way west through Canada and  wrapping up October 11 in Chico, CA. AS I LAY DYING will then end 2010 with shows throughout Europe (see below for full tour dates).

“This is one of the best tour line-ups we’ve ever been a part of as a headliner,” explains lead vocalist TIM LAMBESIS. “I’m proud of the mark that all of our bands have made on the modern metal scene and we’re finally touring together in one package. I especially can’t wait to spend time with our good friends in Unearth since they are long time friends, label mates, and great personalities that never leave a dull moment!”

AS I LAY DYING–NICK HIPA (guitar), TIM LAMBESIS (vocals), JORDAN MANCINO (drums), PHIL SGROSSO (guitar) and JOSH GILBERT (bass)–just completed the “Cool Tour” with Underoath, Between the Buried and Me, Blessthefall, The Acacia Strain, Architects, Cancer Bats, and War of Ages on August 1.  In a live review from the 7/31 Los Angeles date, Louie Bones of BigWheelMagazine.com said, “As I Lay Dying hit the stage to an intro song that reminded me of an epic war scene from a movie, it set the tone for what was to come. The 4000 maximum capacity crowd howled in excitement as the 5 members of As I Lay Dying broke into the set opener ‘94 Hours.’ The bone shattering bass drum was felt by all across the floor and up into the Palladium’s balconies. It was similar to an earthquake set to musical rhythm and growled along to…Fans had waited all day for this and they were not let down by any means as As I Lay Dying tore through the Palladium relentlessly late into the night.”

AS I LAY DYING recently performed live for rabid fans as part of the Maloof Money Cup presented by Vans. Catch the AS I LAY DYING’s second national TV performance this year set to air on Saturday, August 28 on the FOX at 2:00pm CST/3:00pm EST.  The Maloof Money Cup–the world’s premiere showcase for amateur and professional skateboarding–awards nearly $450,000 in cash and prizes in four professional U.S. championship competitions: the VOLCOM Street Pro, Women’s Pro Street, Carl’s Jr. Pro Vert Championships and the World Industries Amateur Championships. AS I LAY DYING’s performance joins Lil’ Jon, Ludacris, YelaWolf and many others. For more information go to www.maloofmoneycup.com.

In other exciting news, AS I LAY DYING has been nominated for a San Diego Music Award for “Best Hard Rock Album” with THE POWERLESS RISE.  Other the San Diego-based bands nominated in this category are: A City Serene, All Leather, Bitter Frost, Burning the Masses, Canobliss, Carnifex and Mower. HM Magazine Turns 35

In 1985, Doug Van Pelt photocopied a letter-sized sheets of paper, bound them together, and handed them out in person on the campus of the University of Texas at Austin. It's all digital now, but, along the way, Van Pelt stirred up quite a few waves, played some seriously heavy music, and made a few friends along the way. Here: A quick look back at the magazine's 35-year history with Van Pelt and new owner, David Stagg.

My Epic performing their last final show before COVID-19

Between the White Noise

My Epic's last full-length album came out in 2013; despite a number of EPs along the way, the band's dedication to their craft, lyrical approach, and unyielding approach to let the music come naturally has made them critical darlings. Now, they're learning to interact and feed a rabid fanbase in between albums and in a new normal.

Comrades 2020

Becoming Comrades

The trio of Comrades – husband and wife Joe and Laura McElroy alongside drummer John Gaskil – is used to living in a van and touring the country. Now, their new normal has provided them with a moment to "be adults" for once. We recently sat down with the McElroys to talk more about the spiritual reality within life, how soon they'll be able to release new music, and how koalas are their new normal.
