Today, HM is proud to premiere the latest single from rising alt rock act Hello Luna, “Buried on the Inside.”
The band’s new release marks a captivating shift toward a more refined pop direction, showcasing their versatility and growth. Following their powerful and energetic June release, “Sweet and Deranged,” Hello Luna’s latest track takes a playful side-step while delivering the same sparkly angst and painfully honest lyrics. Collaborating with the renowned Capital House Studios (Beartooth, Hawthorne Heights), the band has meticulously crafted their sound, embracing a new sonic landscape that is sure to resonate with lovers of rock and pop alike.
The track is vocalist Kenzie Coyne’s vessel of processing an ongoing battle with mental illness and struggle to make sense of her emotions, past and present. The chorus, “Am I just dreaming or am I awake?” represents her cry of insanity in the face of PTSD symptoms.
She shares more with us about the song’s meaning:
“My emotions play tricks on me… I can’t always trust what I’m feeling, and it can often feel like a constant battle within myself.”
The dark-yet-honest lyrics are beautifully juxtaposed with dream-like instrumentation and captivating song structures that take listeners on a journey to the edge of their consciousness. “Buried on the Inside” invites listeners to embrace the depths of their subconscious, encouraging them to roll down their windows and belt out this summer banger while accepting that it’s okay to feel a little off, too.
Since their formation in 2016, Hello Luna has remained true to their name, continuously striving to “bring light into the darkness” wherever they go. With three EPs and one full-length record, Into Static, under their belt, they have an exciting year ahead, including their debut appearance at the esteemed emerging music festival, Audiofeed, in Urbana, IL.
“Buried on the Inside” will be available everywhere tomorrow, July 21. If you like what you hear, follow Hello Luna on Facebook and Instagram.
