Alfred Music Publishing announces an interactive app based on its acclaimed Music for Little Mozarts curriculum for preschool piano students. The new app is designed to be played on the iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch, and Android phones.
The Music for Little Mozarts Piano App provides an introduction to music for four-, five-, and six-year olds. Young music makers go on an adventure with lively characters Beethoven Bear and Mozart Mouse. Along the way the child learns a number of basic musical concepts that prepare him or her for further development in music.
“This app gives parents an exciting new way to introduce their children to music,” said Karen Surmani, Alfred’s Early Childhood Publications Editor. “It puts creative learning and inspiration at their fingertips, wherever they go.”
Featuring 10 easy-to-play, interactive games, the app introduces children to early level musical concepts, such as how to distinguish high and low sounds, loud and soft sounds, and identify rhythm patterns that they hear. Other multi-level games on the app introduce notes on the staff, and keys on the keyboard.
The app is an expansion of the Music for Little Mozarts curriculum, which provides a balance between the discipline necessary for playing the piano and the enjoyment one receives from the process of music making. The curriculum centers on the adventures of Beethoven Bear and Mozart Mouse as they learn about music. Three correlating Books (Music Lesson Book, Music Workbook, and Music Discovery Book) at each of the four levels guide the children through a comprehensive approach to musical learning.
The curriculum also has been adapted for preschool and kindergarten classrooms. Each of the three volumes of Classroom Music for Little Mozarts includes sequential lessons with singing, listening, movement, rhythm, and coloring activities.
The Music for Little Mozarts Piano App is now available for $0.99 at the Apple App Store and Android Market. To learn more about the Music for Little Mozarts curriculum, visit musicforlittlemozarts.com. For more information about Alfred Music Publishing, visit alfred.com.
