(I Think) I'm Leaving

Review by

Nashville’s budding music scene has always had it’s diamonds in the rough. Better Off takes their name from Friends, their former band name debut EP Better Off Alone. Why change the name you may ask? Two reasons: One, there is a hip-hop group from New York called Friends; and two, Better Off is a totally different band than what they were when they were Friends.

Friends was more of a pop-punk band mirroring the styles of their labelmates Thirtyseven. Better Off captures the growing sound that Title Fight and Balance and Composure have hit it big with. Though Better Off may talk about broken hearts and broken relationships, you can tell there is the Spirit behind the songs they have written. If you are a fan of late ’90s-early 2000s indie/emo scene (bands like twothirtyeight, and watasi wa or early Relient K), you will find yourself at home with Better Off.
