whew!
i have made a realization that never dawned on me until now.
the adage “one day at a time” is a coping mechanism.
it’s there to help someone with mounting, overwhelming problems focus and take care of the only thing they can possibly get their heads and hands around – the next 24 hours or so.
and sometimes a full day seems impossible, but it helps calm the nerves.
it covers a lot of ground, too. focusing on “one day at a time” means you let go of yesterday (the past) and concern yourself with what you can control (not exactly), adapt and/or deal with – the present.
4 I sought the Lord, and he answered me;
he delivered me from all my fears.
5 Those who look to him are radiant;
their faces are never covered with shame.
6 This poor man called, and the Lord heard him;
he saved him out of all his troubles.
7 The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him,
and he delivers them.
