Every year for (it seems like) forever there has been a convention casually called “GMA Week” that leads up to the Dove Awards. This past year the GMA announced that it was holding a fund-raiser to try and save the non-profit association. The fund-raiser show did quite well, but the leadership decided to basically “take a year off,” if I understand correctly, and not host a full-blown “GMA Week.” They tweaked the title to “Dove Week” and they’re still organizing the Dove Awards, but without a half-week’s worth of seminars and convention-type events.
There’ll be lots of late-night showcases during the week. HM Magazine is co-sponsoring one of them, run by our friend Seth Holloway of Least of These. The event poster is below. We are also happy to announce that our friends at the Extreme Tour are hosting The Objective once again. I would be there in person again, but decided that this annual trip to Nashville (I’ve gone every year since 1990) wasn’t in our budget. I was looking forward to teaching at the Objective, but maybe next year…
Here are a list of the Dove Award Nominations in the categories that probably interest you the most (we left off Southern Gospel, Children’s Musical, and other such categories…):
