I got a phone call from my band mates today. They were at a castle of some sort, having a good time that I was invited to. I passed on the invitation and stayed at home to get ready for a house showing (I’ve got my house on the market for sale). It was a great way to know in a tangible way that I have some wonderful friends. I am so grateful and I love them. I hope that I can encourage them and warm their hearts like they have mine today. I watch television when I can and I love some of these law enforcement shows – like Criminal Minds and Flashpoint. The thing that stands out the most for me is not the grisly crimes, the blood and guts and brutal violence – it is the kinship/friendship of the team on the show. They respect each other, work as a team and cherish each other. It’s a beautiful little snapshot of love. I’m blessed to have people that love me.
I recently did an interview with John Cooper of Skillet. It was for the cover story of the June issue of HM Magazine. It’s cool to write for the magazine I started. I hope y’all like the coverage. I think I’m reviewing a couple albums, too. One of ’em is the new Black Sabbath album. What? Black Sabbath?! They’re not Christian! No, as far as I know, they are not. But like the thriving college ministry Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship (who print a line of books and Bible study aids), they appreciate a Christian viewpoint on things – especially culturally relevant things like entertainment, art and music. I haven’t heard it yet, but should start streaming it right about now.
Here are some buttons to purchase 3 books I’ve written. I’m working on finding a good place to post information on them. Right now I think I’ll default to the Facebook page I created for the HM Press title Desert High. It’s a novel I wrote about high school football and time travel. We go back to November of 1980 and land against the backdrop of Edwards Air Force Base – the Mecca of flight testing for the U.S. Air Force. It’s a lot of fun. If you’re a filmmaker, you should read this and make a movie based on it.
