favicons

I get an email almost every day called “Mashable,” which has links to several articles/posts on social media and the like. Today it had a post about favorite icons (favicon.ico), which we have at hmmag.com  It’s the little HM logo (16 pixels x 16 pixels) that you can create and place in your site’s index, so that when someone visits your site you can see the logo. The people that did this search tracked traffic to a whole lot of websites. I wanted to see if hmmag.com tracked on their radar, so I did a search:

I think showing up here means we are in the top million. That’s a start. There’s a LOT of websites out there.

On other, not very related subjects:
Our Sep/O issue is now out (at least subscribers are getting it…not sure when newsstands will have it up, but probably by this Friday) and it looks really great. Our new iphone app should be live now on itunes (although I don’t see it there yet).  Hopefully, we’ll have a new podcast out soon. The new issue of Heaven’s Metal fanzine looks pretty fantastic, too. There’s a couple of cool events on the horizon. One is this weekend’s Up From the Ashes III festival, which celebrates HM’s 25th anniversary, as well as Deliverance and Bloodgood both releasing demo’s or being bands in that year. The sad news is I might not be able to attend as previously planned. Our grandfather passed away (affectionately known as “PeePaw”) last night and we’re not sure how that will effect our travel plans. We just posted 3 really cool “Hard Music Exclusives” – one on Citizen Aim, who passed away last weekend; one on Fortyfest near Dallas; and one on Heaven Fest near Denver.
