It seems like it was almost a dream. The concert was so good and their set was so long and full of great songs. Massive, heavy moments, like “Sea of Tranquility” and “Space In Your Face.” They played tunes that spanned their debut album all the way to Let It Go<\/em> (“Hey Mr.”) to their self-titled debut album (“Why Can’t You Believe In Me”) and just about every album in between (like “Nothing To Say” and “Ranch On Mars Pt. 2” from At The End Of The Day<\/em>; “About Mrs. Leslie” from Space In Your Face<\/em> and “Stress” and “Fear Not” from Machine Fish<\/em>). There were a few pauses that indicated that this was one of three “one-off” reunion dates, as opposed to a middle-of-the-tour groove, but the show was almost flawless and the songs from their heavy-as-stink-with-swirling-harmonies days to their later heavy-alt-rock-with-harmonies era all sounded on and energetic. It was nice to see the band chug it out for a couple hours and not appear overly tired. Drummer Alan Doss appeared to mash up his fingers (a massive blister opened on him … but there was duct tape in the house) and bassist Monty looked spent after jumping and cajoling for most of the set. Original guitarist Dane Sonnier got up and jammed with guitarist Wally Farkas and frontman Ben Huggins played his acoustic on several songs. Lots of skill, emotion and talent was definitely on display. Apparently they’ve still got it (and it would be a disappointment if they didn’t try something else in the studio and on the road). I guess we’ll see. I got rooked into filming the show with Ben’s HD camera, so there are at least plans for a dvd of this…<\/p>\n
