Today, HM is proud to premiere the new live music video from South Dakota-based Souls. The band will be releasing an EP, Death Ritual, this spring; the video is for the title track to the work. Other than try to explain the band’s purpose, we’ll let them give it to you as straight as they gave it to us:
“Souls is a band that originated in the Black Hills of South Dakota, lands that were stolen from the indigenous people of the region. Death Ritual was written as a reaction to the closed eyes and shoulders turned to the native people of the Black Hills. It is one of the most spite-filled and politically-driven songs Souls has written. Sonically, the song is a straight-forward, pissed off 2 minutes and 40 seconds to match the tone of the lyrics, ‘Forever enslaved, forgotten to the plains.'”
The band will take to the road beginning tomorrow in Nebraska on the Winter Skin Bathed in Sin Tour with Withered Bones, Vessels and Swing Low.
