Personally filed under Did Not See That Coming, Stryper vocalist Michael Sweet has joined up with Dokken/Lynch Mob guitarist George Lynch to release an album of new music under Sweet and Lynch. The group is the brainchild of Sweet, who also enlisted former Whitesnake/Billy Idol drummer Brian Tichy and bassist James Lomenzo, who previously spent time in Megadeth and Black Label Society. But when it came to getting help on guitar, he reached out to one of his bucket list players.

George is one of the most talented guitarists out there. He wrote riffs and basic ideas, and I wrote melodies, lyrics and arranged and completed the songs. I knew we would compliment each others’ style.

The group’s debut album, Only to Rise, comes out this Tuesday. In the meantime, the band has released a music video for the single, “Dying Rose,” a blues-based rock and roll song, perfect for these two, right in there element. Jam it loud, and just try to reach the notes Sweet reaches.
