August Burns Red News
Fresh out of the studio where they finished up their yet-to-titled third full-length with producer Jason Suecof – the man behind the curtain of heralded albums by bands like SEVENDUST, ALL THAT REMAINS, GOD FORBID and TRIVIUM – AUGUST BURNS RED is ready to reclaim their road-warrior mantle as the group prepares for dates in support of ALL THAT REMAINS, as well as a European Festival appearances and headlining dates. Bombworks Records Signs Darkness Before Dawn
Southwestern extreme metallers Darkness Before Dawn is the latest signing to Bombworks Records. Hailing from Glendale, Arizona, Darkness Before Dawn has been a force in the Southwest scene for a number of years now, blending epic death and black metal with a modern edge for a powerful brutal sound that is both melodic and heavy. The band self-released a 5-song self-titled EP in
2007 that featured more of an epic metalcore sound that borrowed many elements from death metal and symphonic black metal. The band continued to refine their sound and later recorded a 3-song demo in 2008 that boldly supplanted itself in the realm of extreme metal, taking cues from symphonic black metal, death metal and prog while retaining a modern edge, incorporating death growls and black shrieks, blazing guitar leads, bombastic drumming and bass work, and keyboards to provide atmosphere throughout. Darkness Before Dawn is a 6-piece, with Logan on vocals, Gabe and Trey on guitars, DJ on bass, TJ on keys, and Matt on drums, resulting in a sound that is very full and providing the ability to reproduce the recorded sound live. Influences include bands such as Dethklok, Behemoth, Dimmu Borgir, In Flames, and The Black Dahlia Murder. The band will be heading into legendary Lambesis Studios for the month of April to record their debut full length, tentatively titled “King’s to You”, which will feature 11 brand new tracks. The CD will drop in June and will be available from the band for their tour up to Cornerstone, which includes an opening night slot on Bombworks Records’ sponsored Day of Metal stage.

Jason Eaton Holds ‘Nothing Back’ On Debut EP
JEM Records recording artist Jason Eaton has released his debut EP, Nothing Back, as a digital exclusive, available through iTunes and other major online outlets, including Amazon.com. The title track is going for adds now at Christian radio stations nationwide, while the singer/songwriter/worship leader puts the finishing touches on the full-length project that will be released to retail later this year. The journey to Jason Eaton’s full time pursuit of faith-based artistry began with a degree in Music Education at Olivet Nazarene University. From there, Eaton found himself on stage as a soloist with the Thurlow Spur productions of Concert Ministries International, playing the lead role in the musical “David, A Man After God’s Own Heart” (written by Cam Floria, head of the Continental Singers) and subsequently appearing on “The 700 Club” with Pat Robertson. Before long, Eaton was touring full time with the vocal band Liberty. While Eaton plans to tour in support of Nothing Back, his wife of 13 years Wendy Jo and their three sons will be along for the ride. “Family comes first and they come with me as well,” explains Eaton. “Everything I do in my musical calling is for Christ. It’s not about Jason Eaton as the artist. It’s about His purpose and plan, plus sharing His love to those who are Christians, those who’ve fallen away from Christ or those who’ve never known Christ as their savior.” It’s no wonder that the material found within Nothing Back is so vertically centered, starting with the title track as the project’s lead single. The contagious cut was arranged by Eaton and penned by Beat Street Records/Provident recording artist/songwriter John Waller (Casting Crowns, According To John). Eaton also turns to Waller’s esteemed songbook for a fresh rendering of “God Thing,” which talks about God lifting a believer out of a valley after fully surrendering the situation. From there, he re-interprets the Vineyard Music song “Free,” and offers a new rock ballad arrangement of the old time gospel hymn “I Bowed On My Knees and Cried Holy.” The EP’s finale “Holding Out Hope To You” has become a concert favorite. “I consider it an honor to do Christian music because my faith defines who I am,” Eaton says. “If I were to sing secular music, that would be very empty to me. I’m not saying some of those songs don’t have meaning, it’s just that Christian music has a much higher meaning because of my faith. Before I sing, I always pray ‘let me step aside and let me be the vessel for you. Help the spotlight shine right though me onto you.’ When you do that and realize it has nothing to do with you, but rather it’s all about Christ, then that’s when the Holy Spirit can really move.”

Kalejdoskop Roundtable News
Key Ministry leaders from around the planet are being invited to the 2nd Global Roundtable of Emerging, Underground Ministries at the SLOT Art Festival, which will happen on July 8-11 when 6000 young people turn up with tents and sleeping bags at a huge Cistercian Abbey in Lubiaz, Poland. The Polish word “Kalejdoskop (Kaleidoscope – in English) means “to look at a beautiful shape” So, the hope for this Roundtable, is to gather leaders from many nations and allow them to look at the shape of the body of Christ – to see it’s current beauty and how it is taking shape and pointing to a beautiful future. They will meet for discussion, resourcing, prayer, encouragement, networking, indoctrinating, friendly insults, late nights, bad coffee and a good time. Although, the Kalejdoskop Roundtable is an invitation-only event for Christian Ministry leaders, we are hoping to expand the network to more than the 60 leaders from the 26 nations that came to the 2006 Roundtable, held at the Freakstock Festival in Germany. For more information, get in touch with Trevor Macpherson or Andrew Jones at firefallzine@hotmail.com.

Facedown Records Presents Through Solace
Through Solace knows that the antidote to long roads and sleepless nights is a solid soundtrack of classic records that define modern hard music. On their tours across the UK, Europe and North America, records such as Shai Hulud’s “Hearts Once Nourished…” and Poison the Well’s “Opposite of December” became more than entertainment as five guys from Wales sped along the world’s highways. “We learned lessons from early metalcore that our sound-alike peers in the genre have been quick to forget. We wanted to do something that had a history and would last, rather than just being pat of a trend.” The band employs a mix of melodic and metallic hardcore that is nostalgic to fans of Beloved and Blindside. combined influences from South Wales neighbors Funeral For a Friend and early Poison the Well lend their effect while denizens of intellectual hardcore will find comfort in the atmospheric layers and melodic passages a la Misery Signals and Satellite Years-era Hopesfall. Through Solace has been climbing the DIY ladder in their native South Wales since 2005, and doing it the old fashioned way has paid off for the 5 piece from Newport & Barry. After self-releasing their first EP “An Innocent Confession” and booking tours and festivals throughout UK and Europe to promote it, they caught the eyes of labels and zines alike. Establishing their potential early on and benefitting from a steadfast integrity, Through Solace’s sound has since matured into a more intelligent, melodic and technical brand of hardcore. Their sound has been described as “powerful and effortlessly crushing…absolutely colossal.”
