Motion Sickness

Review by

The Road to Milestone is an electronic hardcore band from Pennsylvania. Their most recent album, Motion Sickness, is a good, high quality recording, but it doesn’t bring anything entirely new to the table. TRTM clearly takes influence from bands that fit the same bill as Issues, We Came as Romans and Like Moths to Flames where, instrumentally, they are tight, technical and well-written; the band’s major issue is going to be finding a way to differentiate their sound from their contemporaries. They like to incorporate a lot of synth leads and effects in their sound, and few bands are able to find the right balance of the EDM / hardcore combination. The good news is it’s done well on this album. You shouldn’t be surprised if you have mixed feelings about how you should dance to this band. Mosh? Groove? Any of it is on the table.

As far as vocals are concerned, the screamer has a classic mid-range raspy tone and doesn’t typically stray from it, which fits their offering. Their singer is obviously talented, and it’s a shame the band doesn’t choose to showcase his talent more. That being said, some of the melodies can get a bit boring, your brain drifting away from the music occasionally. Altogether, the album is worth checking out, and catching a live show from the band would equally be worth your time.
