Underoath member slash The Almost member slash prominent solo artist Aaron Gillespie will have a new album out Aug. 19, Out of the Badlands. Today, he has released the first official single from the album, a cover of Bonnie Raitt’s classic “I Can’t Make You Love Me.” The album, an acoustic effort from Tooth and Nail Records, will feature reworked songs from Underoath and The Almost, as well as some of his favorite cover tracks.

Gillespie spoke about the song via press release:

“Sometimes a song just resonates with you right where you are and with what you’re going through. This was that song for me. Making this type of statement pulled me out after a long, long relationship. Saying exactly what’s happening in your life is therapy. This is my therapy.”

You can preorder the album now from his website. The song originally premiered through AltPress.
